Wow.. don’t know what else to say.

This is just the best. I bought the 2 person size to use as a light weight sleeping bag alternative. It’s lighter than most of them and has more room. I do wish it had a “middle/third” clip for a little better closure folded over for this use, but otherwise it’s perfect. Perhaps it’s already perfect for most and I’m just picking. I have a bunch of rumpl products. Pillow, 2 original puffy’s and a 2 person down one too. I hope they make more down blankets, that one is my favorite, but this is a ton better than the original nano-loft ones. Like way better! If you’re on the fence about it, you won’t be disappointed.

Thank you so much for the awesome review, Mark! We’re thrilled you’re enjoying the 2-person size Backcountry Puffy blanket as a lightweight sleeping bag alternative. We appreciate your suggestion about the middle clip and will definitely keep it in mind for future designs. It’s great to hear you’re loving the down blanket, and we’re glad it’s exceeded your expectations!

    My Adventure Staple

I recently got the Backcountry Puffy Blanket and the quality is top notch. After a few trips under our belt with these blankets I know they will hold up to all of the abuse to come as we continue to explore the beautiful backcountry here in the states. The size is ideal for bringing on backpacking trips. The new cape clip is so secure it withstands crazy high levels of wind (I'm talking 70+ mph gusts) with complete peace of mind that it isn't going anywhere. I get cold very easily and being able to utilize cape mode when I'm cooking around camp or hanging by a fire is now the only way I know how to comfortably operate. And as a girl who hates having her hands full I really appreciate the corner zip stash pocket for my phone, head lamp, car keys -- really whatever small, important items I want nearby but don't want to lose.

It helps me stay temperature regulated at night when I don't want to be zipped into my sleeping bag which makes for a much better night's rest and I can attach it to my husband's blanket to make it bigger. Honestly the fact that it's so multifunctional has us hooked on the Backcountry Puffy and I don't know if I could ever rave enough.

Good construction, but hardly any insulation

The blanket is soft and great construction, but I was disappointed in the level of insulation/warmth. I almost gave it a 4 out of 5 but the purpose of a blanket is warmth. I have had this about a month. This didn't work too well in moderate outdoor temperatures and I even tried to curl up while indoors (~70°F). A single layer wasn't noticeably warm indoors and I get more out of a flannel blanket that I have. It gave a little better warmth when I doubled up the layers, but that makes it pretty short. I think I will be cutting open each little insulation pocket to add the level of high quality insulation I was wanting/expecting. Definitely can't use this for winter camping that I was wanting now, but I think it'll be good after.

Also, the bag that it fits into is a good light, strong fabric, but the top band of it is much heavier than needed and likes to try to re-close when stuffing the blanket in. I'd suggest a simpler design for the top band that you have to roll closed. Not a major issue as I have lighter stuff sacks.

Thank you for your feedback, Matthew! We're sorry to hear the blanket didn’t meet your warmth expectations. The single-layer design is intended for versatility, but we understand your need for more insulation in colder conditions. We also appreciate your suggestion about the bag design and will take it into consideration.
